2026 Give4Marion – Save the Date!

Lisa — Tue, 08 Sep 2026 20:38:31 +0000

ONE WEEK TO GO!!

Have you dreamed of making history? Of course, we all have. And now we have a chance to be a part of Ocala/Marion’s day of giving – an opportunity to unite our community around causes in which we truly believe and help nonprofit organizations connect to the larger community.

We need your help! Please join our campaign and help us reach our goal of $9,500 and 50 donors! We need you to tell your friends and family members about the important work we do and ask them to join us in helping to make a difference.

These two days are the one time each year that we actively email our supporters. We provide updates throughout the event with upcoming prize opportunities and let you know how we are doing.

Get ready to give! On September 15-16th, https://www.give4marion.org/organizations/forest-animal-rescue and make a donation to us and/or to any of the great participating nonprofit organizations in Ocala/Marion. All giving will end at 7:00PM on September 16th, so make sure to get your gift in on time!

Our special donor and friend, June Albert, is MATCHING all donations 2:1 during the event up to $10,000, and our favorite contractors, Fabian Construction, are ALSO matching gifts dollar for dollar up to $500. That means that if you act quickly, your gift can make FOUR TIMES the impact!

There will be special hours with other matching funds and you can also help us win prizes – just watch for our emails and check our social media for details.

Questions? If you have any questions or would like more information, let us know by simply replying to this email.

Thank you in advance for your generosity to our organization!

Happy New Year

In Memory of Kurt Stoner

Lisa — Thu, 12 Jun 2025 23:38:51 +0000

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Kurt Stoner, the beloved co-founder of Forest Animal Rescue.

Kurt peacefully passed away on May 31, 2025, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. His devoted wife, best friend, and fellow co-founder of F.A.R., Lisa, was by his side during his final moments, as they were on a lifelong dream trip to Africa. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Kurt was a visionary and a compassionate leader whose unwavering dedication to the care and protection of animals inspired countless lives. His passion, integrity, and tireless work laid the foundation of our organization, leaving a lasting legacy for animals and people alike.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date for family and close friends. In honor of Kurt’s lifelong commitment to animal welfare, donations may be made to Forest Animal Rescue in his memory.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Kurt’s family, friends, and all those inspired by his remarkable journey.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Kurt’s honor to continue his life’s work at Forest Animal Rescue, PO Box 514, Silver Springs, FL 34489 or securely online using the button below.

Celebrate Earth Day!

Earth Day serves as a platform to educate the public about environmental problems like pollution, climate change, and deforestation, encouraging individuals to become more environmentally conscious.

The Easter Bunny

Lisa — Sat, 19 Apr 2025 04:48:20 +0000

PLEASE remember that bunnies are intelligent animals and not easy to care for…and they live for 10 years.

They are NOT playthings for children as Easter gifts.

Gopher Tortoise Day

Lisa — Thu, 10 Apr 2025 15:00:57 +0000

April 10^th was officially adopted by the Gopher Tortoise Council as Gopher Tortoise Day! In Florida, gopher tortoises are found in parts of all 67 counties and are frequently encountered in neighborhoods, along roadways, and in many of Florida’s public parks and forests. The goal of Gopher Tortoise Day is to increase awareness and appreciation for these long lived, gentle reptiles.

Gopher tortoises are considered a keystone species because they dig burrows that provide shelter for 360 other species of wildlife, called “commensals.” These commensal species include the gopher frog, Florida mouse, eastern indigo snake, and hundreds of invertebrates like beetles and crickets. Without the gopher tortoise, many of these species would not exist.

You can help celebrate Florida’s only native tortoise by hosting an event in your community, asking your local City or County Commission to officially adopt April 10^th as Gopher Tortoise Day, and by educating others on the importance of protecting gopher tortoises.

Use the menu above to access resources, including the resolution template, ideas for hosting your own event along with hands-on activities, and educational materials that can be printed and distributed to friends and neighbors in your community.
