<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Yesterday two pairs of rescued ring-tailed lemurs (with another female to arrive soon) arrived at the sanctuary! They will be in their quarantine habitat for a few weeks until we can neuter the males and then we will integrate them into our big lemur habitat with the others. Now we need your help to name them! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Make a gift to help the animals and suggest a name at the same time! </p>

<div class="wp-block-envira-envira-gallery"><div class="envira-gallery-feed-output"><img decoding="async" class="envira-gallery-feed-image" src="https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/New-lemur-1-scaled-640x480.jpg" title="" alt="" /></div></div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">With the increased awareness that &#8216;Tiger King&#8217; brought to the plight of wild animals at roadside zoos and other inappropriate situations, government officials are beginning to take action against places that have held animals in horrible conditions for years.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The abuse stops now. These lucky lemurs will never be bred or exploited again. No more photoshoots. No more breeding to have their babies taken away and sold as pets. They will stay in a troop with others of their own kind at the sanctuary and will receive the highest quality of care for the rest of their lives.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The red pandas that our team has been working for over two years on rescuing from a defunct zoo in Argentina will not be coming to our sanctuary after all.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="alignleft is-resized"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" src="https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Red-Panda-Luly3-1024x695.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-6241" width="426" height="289" srcset="https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Red-Panda-Luly3-1024x695.jpg 1024w, https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Red-Panda-Luly3-300x203.jpg 300w, https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Red-Panda-Luly3-768x521.jpg 768w, https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Red-Panda-Luly3.jpg 1150w" sizes="(max-width: 426px) 100vw, 426px" /><figcaption>Photo credit Tomás Francisco Cuesta</figcaption></figure></div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We received word that the <em>Juky, </em>the male panda passed away at the zoo in Argentina before they obtained their export paperwork. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After examination by veterinarians, the authorities decided that <em>Luly, </em>the remaining female, was no longer healthy enough to make the trip to the United States. She will remain in her tiny old habitat at the zoo in Buenos Aires. The facility is being converted into a center for rehabilitation of native animals.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>We are all </strong><em><strong>heartbroken</strong></em><strong> for her.</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We will still complete the construction of the beautiful habitat, and it will be used to provide additional space for our rescued spider monkeys. Once the spider monkeys have been moved into the new habitat, we will connect their old space to the lemur habitat to give the lemurs an expansion as well.</p>

<ul class="wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex"><li class="blocks-gallery-item"><figure><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Gramps-1024x576.jpg" alt="" data-id="6338" data-link="https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/gramps/" class="wp-image-6338" srcset="https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Gramps-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Gramps-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Gramps-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Gramps.jpg 1440w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></li><li class="blocks-gallery-item"><figure><img decoding="async" width="960" height="688" src="https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/lemurs-roses.jpg" alt="" data-id="4186" data-link="https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/happy-valentines-day-from-cody-and-oatmeal/lemurs-roses/" class="wp-image-4186" srcset="https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/lemurs-roses.jpg 960w, https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/lemurs-roses-300x215.jpg 300w, https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/lemurs-roses-768x550.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></figure></li></ul>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At least if the red pandas won’t be coming, other rescued animals will benefit from everyone’s hard work and support. We are all extremely disappointed with this news, but will push forward and continue to rescue more animals in need.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We thank everyone for their support and encouragement as we have worked on this project for the past two years.</p>
