Volunteer with us - Highway Cleanups

One of our projects to benefit wild animals is to be responsible stewards of the environment that we share with them.

Forest Animal Rescue has joined the National litter awareness program by sponsoring multiple “Adopt-a-Highway” locations in two Florida counties so far. This project provides a cleaner, greener environment for humans and animals alike, and is a short-simple way to make a real difference.

The cleanups we are recruiting volunteers for are Citrus County and Marion County, FL. You can simply reply to an email announcement for a cleanup near you to be added to the calendar.

Each stretch of highway that Forest Animal Rescue “adopts” is cleaned up four times a year. A cleanup typically takes place in the morning on a weekday, with the group of volunteers finishing the project in roughly two hours. Afterward, we all meet at a nearby restaurant for lunch and beverages to visit and share in our sense of accomplishment.
